Sarah Hurley 'Spread your wings and fly' CAS Butterfly Card

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with a card from my fave ever Sarah Hurley stamp set which you can find here. I am really into the CAS style at the moment and I used a set of rainbow inks that complement each other really well. I then cut the wings around the butterfly in the centre with a craft knife and made them 3D. I added my sentiment slightly above the butterfly.

Crafty Ribbons Challenge-Stitches Real or Faux

Good morning everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with my project for our Stitching real or faux challenge at Crafty Ribbons Challenge. I had the lovely Hello Kitty ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and found some pretty complementing cotton remnants, and felt in my stash so decided to make my own Lavender Sleep Mask :-) I cut the material and sewed on the hello kitty ribbon on the right side of the fabric first. I then sewed the felt and fabric right side together, then left a little hole so I could pull it right side out. Then I filled the inside with dried lavender and rice. I then sewed the little hole using invisible stitching. They make really nice but inexpensive and easy to create gifts.

Minerva Crafts Felt Butterfly Mobile

I am really excited to share with you a project I have been working on for Minerva Crafts who approached me to ask if I would like to design and create something with products from their store so of course I said yes! :-)
It was so difficult to choose but in the end I decided to choose some of their felt and assorted products to make a home decor project. I used their craft felt, some dies from docrafts, some beads, ribbon and hot fix gems. I cut my butterflies out of polka dot and plain black and white felt with my grand calibur, then decorated each side one by one but in matching ways. It is double sided so you can hang it from a ceiling. I sewed on the body which I made with beads, using three layers of different sized butterflies in felt. I then sewed decorative stitches with white embroidery thread onto the black polka dot butterflies. Next I hot fixed clear gems on the butterflies. Following this I added the ribbon. I folded the ribbon in half when cutting it to give a pretty end and fixed it from fraying with clear nail varnish. I arranged my butterflies and glued them to the ribbon first on one side, I then turned them round and glued the matching butterflies to the reverse of the decoration.

Sarah Hurley Frigate card and some wonderful news!

Good evening everyone, hope you are well :-) I am really excited as yesterday I received a parcel in the post with lots of lovely Stampin' Up goodies-I have come third in their category of Cardmaker of the year 2013! :-) So I just thought I would use this as an opportunity to thank all of you for your support, you really make my crafting journey much more fun and I appreciate it very much!
Sarah asked us to make some samples for her new online magazine, the Sarah Hurley Lookbook  so here is one of my creations :-)
I used her Exhibition kit which I coloured only the background with Promarkers to make the image pop.
I then tore the edges and aged them with inks. I used Bo Bunny papers, coloured cardstock, various ribbons and hessian for texture. I then added wooden buttons :-)

Cupcake Boutique Collection Card and Present in One!

Good morning everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with a card and gift in one! I used the Cupcake Boutique Collection from Dovecrafts for this card-I had wooden shapes with this so started my creation by creating a brooch. I covered the butterfly with really pretty papers and gems. I then varnished with glitter Modge Podge. Next I added a brooch to the reverse.
I then created my card, using a pearlescent card blank, two papers from the collection, paper flower border by Docrafts which I embellished with pearls, a doily and a dome greeting. I then placed my brooch on built up 3D foam pads. So when the card is finished with you can remove the brooch to wear it.
An up close photo showing the reverse of the brooch.

Pretty Butterfly Handmade Kindle Case

Good morning everyone! Hope you are well :-) In the summer I got a basic kindle with a lighted case which I adore. Sadly despite the case being amazon made the quality of the outside of the case is terrible-it scratches up terribly and every time I looked at it I got annoyed! So I decided to remedy this by making my own pretty kindle case for the kindle in its lighted case (I need the light in case I read at night so dont want to lose this feature)
Obviously I had to create my own pattern as its unusual making a case for a kindle already in a case with challenges like being able to use the light and to be able to slip the case front in but I persevered. Considering I am relatively new to sewing I am really pleased with how well I managed to piece this together-it just goes to show if any of you are scared of sewing dont be-if I can do it anyone can! ;-)
I used some remnants I bought which are a lovely heavy weight cotton. First of all I made the pocket base for the lighted case. I cut two 2 inch squares and folded them into triangles which I then machine sewed. I cut two panels of material to fit the back of the case and sewed them all right sides together, leaving a hole to pull them the right way out, then sewed this shut. Next I cut my front and inside panels of my case. I sewed the pocket base onto the inside panel of my case. I cut out a pocket panel to slide the front of the case into and sewed a seam along one side. I then placed all the panels right side together, leaving a hole to pull it right way out again. After I did so I sewed this opening closed. I then decided to make a strap to close the case so I used some of the butterfly material and folded this over and sewed to make the strap tidy. I then sewed one end under the pocked base panel. I then sewed the strap to a butterfly applique I have had for a while, to which I added a popper catch. Lastly I sewed the other side of the popper catch to the front of my case. All done :-) What do you think?
