Upcycled Morrocan Accent Pine Sideboard

Hey everyone, hope you are well! I am here with something I am very proud of. I found a second hand sideboard on ebay for a very good price and wanted to make it fit into my new room. I still had paint from painting my other furniture and I used some of my favourite papers I won in my placing of cardmaker of the year a few years ago from Stampin' Up cut using mosaic punch.

We sanded the top of the unit down to allow the paint to adhere to the top. When there was enough for the paint to grab we used treatment to stop the knots on the unit that had previously shown through the old paint coming through again. (You can just about see the knots showing through in the first photo before we worked on it!) We also fitted the handles and filled the holes where the old knobs had sat. That way we knew where they would go after painting and wouldn't mess up the fresh paint. We took them back off then painted the unit.

After a couple of coats of gloss on the white and the blue/grey mix we let it dry thoroughly and fitted the handles when we were done.

Lastly I got going on my moroccan style pattern. I had cut hundreds of punched pieces of patterned scrapbook paper and I sat and used mod podge hard coat to carefully affix them on the door in a mostly random pattern. After this was done I varnished with a few coats of spray varnish.

I would love to know what you think!

Crushed velvet look and polka dot shoe clips

Hey everyone, I am here with some shoe bows to make my shoes look a little more glamorous and go with my new vintage dresses!

I started by gluing four crushed velvet looking lilac ribbons with a fold in the middle of the back, then two of the lilac polka dot. I used a peg to make sure they dried securely.

I then glued two of the back ribbons into a bow shape (not tying a knot keeps the bow from being too bulky!) and then added the polka dot in the centre with the other ribbons peeking out from behind it.  I repeated this with the other side.

I love these because you can wear them on any shoes, any time-and any where on the shoe! They don't damage your shoes so you can switch up basic shoes and make them really special and match your outfit!

Crafty Ribbons Advent Calendar

Hey everyone, I hope you are well! I am here with an advent calendar I made using Crafty Ribbons Christmas Advent ribbon, some beautiful snowflake felt, Crafty Ribbons Swiss Dots ribbon, plain white felt and my sewing machine for our Christmas challenge at Crafty Ribbons.

I started by cutting white felt bigger than the ribbon in strips of six to a line to fit on the snowflake felt. I placed each strip on the felt and saw the kind of distance I wanted between them. I then began sewing each strip of felt and the advent ribbon onto the snowflake material. I used the slight line marked between each number as where to sew each section-making pockets on each.

I then attached the swiss ribbon to hang it from.

Inspirational Slate Heart Gift

Hey everyone, I hope you are well! I am here with a project to personalise a lovely slate heart I had in my stash. I used Stampin' Up stamps and white embossing powder to emboss an inspirational quote and butterfly decoration onto the heart to give as a gift.
Its simple and effective but you must be careful because the slate gets very hot so you should leave it for a while to cool!

Moroccan Theme 'Thinking of You' card

Hey everyone, hope you are well! I am here with a CAS card using some new stamps and dies I found a little while ago which I love!
I cut My Minds Eye papers with the dies and used both the negatives and the positive cuts on the card with different papers on each. I stamped the greeting then added half of the die cut at the end of the card pointing towards the greeting and added gems on the 'i' dots too.

Crafty Ribbons Animal Challenge Lanyard

Hey everyone, I am here with my inspiration for our Animal challenge at Crafty Ribbons :) I used the Animal Kingdom Cats Silhouette Ribbon to make a personalised lanyard. I used clamps which I glued inside and then shut the clamps with jewellery tools. I then used a 3mm split ring on each end of the ribbon, then added the lanyard finding and attached each ends.

Love Rings Altered Jewellery Box

Hey everyone, hope you are well :) I am here with a storage solution for my rings-I always find myself absent mindedly placing them somewhere 'safe' but then can't find them! I bought this plain wooden box a little while ago and hadn't got on with decorating it so I decided now was the time!
I used my new favourite paint-chalky paint :) I loved the little lower panel on the lid so decided I had to create something special for it.
I bought some plain unbleached cotton, measured some cardstock to fit into the void and covered the cardstock with the material. I then heat embossed the love sentiment onto the fabric as an experiment. I was pretty pleased with how it came out!
Next I dealt with the inside. I bought some hair curling foam things in the pound shop. I cut the plastic ends off and removed the wires from inside. I then cut them to fit in the void inside the box. Lastly I pushed them inside and voila!

Crafty Ribbons Vintage Polka Dot Shoe Clips

Hey everyone, hope you are well! I am with some more shoe clips that I have made to accessorise my new vintage dresses from Lindy Bop :) I used Crafty Ribbons Basics to Go Grosgrain ribbons, Crafty Ribbons Polka Dot Ribbon, beads and shoe clip blanks.
I started by gluing four black grosgrain ribbons with a fold in the middle of the back, then two of the white polka dot. I used a peg to make sure they dried securely.

I then glued two of the black ribbons into a bow shape (not tying a knot keeps the bow from being too bulky!) and then added the white polka dot in the centre with the black ribbons peeking out from behind it.  I repeated this with the other side.

I then sewed a line of seed beads in the centre using a beading needle. Lastly I glued onto the shoe clips using a glue gun.

I love these because you can wear them on any shoes, any time-and any where on the shoe! They don't damage your shoes so you can switch up basic shoes and make them really special and match your outfit!

A Family Scrapbook for a Loving Nan Part Three

Good evening everyone :)

I want to share a project that is very close to my heart. Recently my Nan turned 80 and I wanted to make her something really special-we are very close and there is just not enough I can do to show her how much I love and appreciate her.

I told her I wanted to take a look at her family photos in order to rescue and restore them for the future-making digital copies would also allow me to share them with everyone in the family so we make sure that they are safe in many hands!

She gave me a huge bag of photos-over 100 years or more-because she had some of her parents family photos too. Obviously being that old they required some restoration so as I scanned them into my computer I used Photoshop to restore them digitally and it was wonderful to watch some photos which were almost completely ruined turn into *almost* perfect again.

I didn't tell her what I was up to really-but it was her birthday coming up and we were planning a huge family party so I wanted to be able to gift it to her at the party so everyone could have the enjoyment of seeing the photos themselves too!

I dedicated this particular scrapbook to documenting my Nan's early life. I wanted to learn from the memories it would trigger to preserve some family history at the same time-so we can pass these stories to the future generations.

I used My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus papers for the entire book because I love the vintage look which really lends itself well to the era of photos and the imperfect nature of the photos I restored.
I wanted to make sure each page looked different within a theme so I switched up the layouts often. I started by placing the photos and then constructing the page around them until I was happy with the look I got.

Here is part three!
This page I used a strip of pattern paper as a border with lace at its centre. I then embellished with wooden butterflies and decorative corners.

This page I embellished with ribbon, wooden butterflies and decorative corners.
